Description
I'm a writer. I currently write for Rave Magazine and music blog Who The Hell, but do stints as a freelance journalist both in print and radio to keep my brain working. I also help local creative practitioners publicise their work using both traditional and new media through my organisation Swell MR.

How did you get into your art form / creative practice (100 words)
I've been writing ever since I was a little girl, but was sidetracked during high school with plans to be a rock star. My fragile dreams were crushed by eighteen months in a tertiary music course where I didn't bond with my fellow students and lost screaming matches with the teaching staff. I decided to change to a degree that encouraged me to argue with lecturers - journalism. Journalism forces you to look beyond your views in order to understand an issue, then relate it in a way that is both entertaining and informative. I love being an observer, I love learning things and I love the satisfaction of a finished piece.
Your local arts scene is... (50 words)
in a really exciting and transitional phase. Sure, it's still a bit cliquey but that's bound to happen anywhere. I'm often awed by the sheer depth and breadth of talent in my local patch of the world.
Where do you find inspiration and why? (50 words)
I love going home to central Queensland. The pace of life is slower and the people are friendly and drive just as badly as I do. People in general are pretty fascinating and inspiring; anyone who disagrees probably works in retail.
What do you hope to create in the future? (100 words)
In 100 words? Geez. I'd love to do a series of podcasts/interviews on young people doing interesting things. If you pay attention to the media, young people seem to be either off their face on drugs and glassing each other or saving starving orphans using Twitter/generally overachieving. I know of young people who are droving cattle across the Northern Territory, performing in the world's best Queen tribute band, driving trucks bigger than your house, to name but a few things. My dream job as a young person would to be the Triple J Hack Reporter for the Northern Territory. I love that part of the world, and there are so many interesting things going on up there that just don't get covered in the media.
